Louisburgh Foróige will attend the 2018 Mayo Stages Car Rally, (ALSO MOTHERS DAY):

Our leaders have classified this event as suitable for our second year and up members ONLY. This decision was reached on health and safety grounds.

We are delighted to once again be in a position to take our members to view the Mayo Stages Car Rally. This year the event is taking place on Achill Island, this is the second time in 13 years the event has taken place here and there is great excitement locally and national at the news of its return to the Island.

We will attend as Spectators and none of our members will be in direct contact with any of the cars on the day. Some points for EVERYONE concerned to take note of;

IT WILL BE COLD & IT WILL BE WET SO DRESS ACORDINLY, DRESS WARM, DRESS WATERPROOF:

YOU MUST WEAR WARM, WATERPROOF CLOTHING WITH WATERPROOF BOOTS OR WELLY'S STRONGLY ADVISED.

We will be standing in a muddy/wet field for most of the day and you should heed this notice.

This event takes place around the cliffs and coastline of Achill Island, and TRUST us when we say, you will need to dress very warmly using as much waterproof top layer clothing as you can find. A warm waterproof hiking type trousers is also strongly advised.

Underfoot will be wet grass or bog land so again wear waterproof hiking boots or indeed welly's is an excellent choice for such conditions. Remember, two pairs of socks too, cos it will get cold standing around all day

TIMES - DATES:

Date:

Sunday the 11th of March.

All times are subject to change but the current timetable is as follows;

Going:

Bus leaving Louisburgh at 8am and Leaving Westport at 8:25am SHARP.

Returning:

We expect to leave Achill around 2pm to arrive back in Westport at 3pm, and Louisburgh by 3:45pm. As Always members will update parents/guardians on route back with a more exact return time.

Other points to consider:

We need to arrive in Achill by 9:30am to get bus into allocated parking area. The bus will be parked away from the viewing location so there is a short walk to where we will be viewing the rally from. The first rally car is expected at our chosen location at 10am.

THE STAGES:

From our chosen location we will be able to view three stages of the rally without the need to move location. We plan to watch at least two of the three stages before departing and it is very lightly we will be viewing ALL THREE stages before we head home but this will be decided on the day.

FOOD:

There will be NO FOOD available on location throughout the day so everyone MUST BRING a packed lunch, a drink and some snacks with them.

Please Please Please do not ignore these three points:

1. Dress warm and waterproof.

2. Wear welly's or waterproof hiking boot's.

2. Bring food, a drink and some snacks with you.
